Guitar / bass set ups

A good set up will improve the playability of your guitar, whether it’s a vintage Strat or a brand new Les Paul! All our set ups are professionally carried out to a very high standard & we thoroughly check every instrument before & after all the adjustments have been made.

For more information including a complete step-by-step guide to our set up procedure see below.

All new guitars have a “factory setting” this is a general setting which can change considerably after flights or shipping resulting in amongst other things high string action, dead spots on the neck, buzzing, intonation-tuning & tremolo problems. Older guitars will develop playability problems from general wear & tear, these instruments can require special attention before a set up can be carried out. Look out for grooves in the frets, worn bridges, worn nuts, badly adjusted truss rods, loose frets etc. Guitarists have varied tastes & demands when it comes to the feel of their instrument & most retailers assume serious players will have their treasured guitar professionally set up shortly after purchase. Lower budget guitars can also benefit from a good set up & many guitarists are realising you do not have to spend a fortune to get your hands on a great playing instrument.

We always guarantee with no exception to make all the necessary step-by-step adjustments covered in our set up list (see below). Should we notice any other faults during the set up, we will discuss these with the client & only proceed with the work if requested to do so.
